The Editors of rock, paper, scissors
Believe in Beginnings
Welcome to rock, paper,
scissors,
a literary magazine edited by and showcasing the creative work
of students in Hamline University’s Graduate School of Liberal
Studies. This magazine is a platform for emerging writers and scholars
at Hamline University to engage in the larger world of art and
academia.
rock, paper, scissors launched
its pilot issue in the fall of 2006 and contained the work of students
in advanced courses of the Master of Fine Arts in Writing program.
These writers have a broad range of voices, yet are just a portion
of the talent in the Graduate School of Liberal Studies. We hope
this pilot issue, along with all future issues, will excite all readers
with its strong content and unbound pages. We encourage all
Hamline MFA and MALS students to submit their work to future issues
of this unique magazine.

rps Mission Statement
The editors of rock, paper, scissors believe in beginnings. rps is
meant to be a springboard into the world of publishing. We encourage
writers and artists to use this forum to practice the art of submission,
locally showcase writing or art that has been published elsewhere,
and gain confidence in the process. We represent experiment and
offer the energy and optimism of the emerging artist. This publication
has been created for and is generated by students of the Graduate
School of Liberal Studies at Hamline University.
